Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then located many other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for details.
An important political figure commented the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a assailant aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
